SEO(search engine optimization) is the process of ranking a website on search engine result pages SERPS. The main purpose of it is to increase website visibility and attract organic traffic. In other words, SEO  is simply, to craft the website in such a way that it becomes eye-catching towards the users.

Here is an example to understand it effectively, consider you want to know about “how to make coffee” and enter this query in the search engine, then on the result page you get multiple websites, and most probably, you may choose the first one or two articles to read. I have been mentioning search engines again and again without making it clear how the search engines where each day billions of people searched their queries.

Each search engine websites have its crawlers, these crawlers are called robots or spiders, which crawl the whole website collect the data, and index the websites in its system, when the user comes and enters the query in the search engine the crawler will search it in the system and show numbers of websites on search engine result pages SERPs.

Types of crawlers:

Desktop crawlers:

Desktop crawlers are software applications that run on a person’s computer. It has a connection with local networks. It has limited speed and has to be installed manually on the computers.

Cloud-based crawlers:

Cloud-based crawlers are manufactured to operate millions of data at the same time. These crawlers are big in size so, they are installed in a cloud computing environment. They are a paid and followed pay-as-you-go pricing model.

On-page SEO:

On-page SEO optimization of pages just to increase the visibility of the website. The optimization includes content, meta tags, headings, URLs, and also internal linking. Which makes your website more coherent, lastly the sitemap gives the crawlers the path to navigate.

Off-page SEO:

Off-page SEO is the optimization of a website externally, this includes backlinks and social engagement with the target audience through link building. Collaborating with multiple influencers just increases the visibility of the website on the result page and attracts more traffic.

Technical SEO:

Technical SEO deals with the technical aspects of websites. It ensures that the website must be crawled and indexed well. It includes the factors of website speed, whether it’s working on search pages, is it mobile-friendly or not. Make sure that the website is well-structured,  secure, and does not have any duplicate content.

SEO is a skill and those who are experienced in the field of SEO, by managing and optimizing multiple websites they called an SEO expert. One thing I want to mention here, my SEO instructor once mentioned, those people who know how to handle the updates without panic are the experts, those who do not go against Google, they understand each update is for the welfare of the user.

 

How to be an SEO expert:

If you want to be an SEO expert, educate yourself through its basics. Don’t be in a hustle. Starting from the basic and then going to the advanced level. As I mentioned earlier, SEO is a skill, so to learn it you need to practice, again I mentioned my instructor to clear my point. He said “Experience always triumphs on education”, so have a dummy website and start your practices on it, also do multiple internships. Be with SEO experts, this will increase your learning. And lastly, again don’t hustle, Seo takes time. Maybe your website got ranked in a few days, months, or years. but one thing always update yourself and your websites in the world of SEO.

Tips for doing good SEO:

1. Keyword Research:

keyword research is the key to ranking the website. The particular website should cover all those keywords that the target audience has searched. Through this crawler acknowledges the website’s nature and indexes it. Another thing is also called keyword relevancy. This means website keywords should according to search intent.

2. Quality Content:

The main purpose of why users click on the website is to cater to information. Content is the sole of websites, it should be organic and user- searched intent. and must be engaging, so that users do not feel irritated while reading it. Mainly, it should be as worthy as a user can share it, and come back to the website, and the bounce rate will minimize. Add infographics, videos, and images to make it more engaging.

3. On-Page Optimization:

Before clicking on the title of the website on the search engine page. There is a pre-stage in which the user sees the meta description and title and then he/she decides whether to click it or not, so, the meta tags and title should be optimized according to person queries.

4. Mobile Optimization

Make sure that the website should be mobile friendly. According to research  In 2024 around 61.21% of traffic comes on websites through mobile phones. And that’s a big number. So, your website content should be flexible according to the mobile screen.

 

5. Page Speed:

If the website takes time to load the pages then the bounce rate will be high. Because the user may leave the website if the page does not land within seconds. Google considers it while ranking the website. So, it should be less than 3 seconds according to Google.

6. Quality Backlinks

Backlinks are those links that SEO experts create outside the website, the benefit in a way the traffic of the second website comes to the first website. Backlinks can’t be put randomly if website B is a scammy website and it’s given the same to website A. This will harm your SEO. Make sure backlinks are high-quality reputable and relevant to the website.

7. Regular Update:

Audiences always prefer those pieces of information that are fresh and highly engaging. Like if a user adds a query about “how to make a house beautiful”, then most probably he likes to read updated articles because of new information and trends mentioned in them.
